Perche, Normandy, France

France

The Perche is a hilly country of forests, hedged fields and apple orchards in the south of Normandy, about two hours west of Paris, much of it inside a regional nature park. Its old capital, Mortagne-au-Perche, sits on a hilltop above the Orne countryside and has hosted the Foire au Boudin every March since 1963. Charcutiers in the town square sell boudin noir all year, and local restaurants serve it with apples and Perche cider.
