Madier
Harbin, China
A Harbin institution founded in 1906, mid-point on the Central Street pedestrian strip. Madier is best known for its ice cream bars, sold from a hatch in the wall year-round. Hongchang is sold alongside, along with kvass from large yellow barrels on the street outside. The building is one of the older surviving European-era structures on Central Street. Eating an ice cream and a sausage in front of it is the tourist experience that local residents also actually do.
